The Harrison Award
for Excellence in Quality
Care
In honor of the commitment to providing quality health care and
services, our management company, Life Care Services,
recently announced the creation of a new award of excellence
in quality care called The Harrison Award. Sumner on
Ridgewood is proud to be one of the recipients of the 1st
Annual Harrison Award. We received this award because of the
hard work of our outstanding team of health care
professionals. We are proud to continue our nearly 100 year
heritage of providing excellent care to seniors in Northeast
Ohio.
This award has been established to recognize those health center teams
that excel in measurable outcomes, as demonstrated by
deficiency-free annual surveys. Reaching this level of
survey performance puts these communities in an elite group;
only 7.6% of all nursing home entities achieved this status
nationally in 2009.
2009
Award for Excellence from In-House Hospice
We are pleased to announce that In-House Hospice recently
recognized Sumner on Ridgewood with a 2009 Skilled Nursing
Facility Award for Excellence.
Our facility was chosen from over a hundred facilities
around Ohio for three reasons:
- Our support and understanding of the importance of
collaborative care when a resident is nearing the end of
life.
- Our organizations belief in the importance of good
communications amongst our staff and In-House Hospice.
- Keeping in mind the needs of our residents and the
importance of making timely referrals.
"It’s important to recognize these facilities and
especially the staff who are looking out for their patients
best interests,” said In-House President and CEO Laura A.
Wagner.
"The staff we are recognizing understands why it’s
important to their patients that they live out their last
days in the most painless and peaceful manner. They readily
acknowledge when an individual should be put onto hospice
care, because they know it’s the right thing to do for the
patient and their family. We know it can be a difficult
decision to call in hospice, but we also know that it’s
respectably the right thing to do for the patient,” she
explained.
Here is the letter we received regarding our Award
for Excellence.
