Excellent Dining, So Many Choices
The name Sumner
has been synonymous with the best in retirement living since 1911, and we firmly
believe this should include all aspects of the
Sumner organization, including
culinary. The Sumner on Ridgewood community offers a wonderful spectrum of
dining choices.
But no matter how wonderful the ambiance and the service, a restaurant is
nothing without the right chef. That's why we looked long and hard to find Chef
John Cetorelli. The oldest of three sons of Italian immigrants Armando and
Frances Cetorelli, Chef John learned the love of, and many of his skills for,
good cooking from his mother. Today he is not only a Certified Executive Chef,
he is also a Certified Dietary Manager and a Certified Food Protection
Professional with 30 years experience in the hospitality industry. Chef John's
illustrious career includes receiving most of his training with Sheraton, Hilton
and Fairmont hotels and working under many great European chefs.
He came to this area in 1983 as executive chef for
Brookside Country Club in Canton. Eight years later, he helped open the Cite
Grille and Rotisserie Restaurant as a consulting chef/executive chef. In 1993,
he became general manager of Jon and Company Cafe, and two years later the
director of food and beverage at the Canton Regency Retirement Community.
Shortly after joining the Sumner organization, Chef John invited our Independent
Living residents to a special tasting of some of his specialties in
our Great Hall. His expertise has been very much noticed and appreciated
by our residents, and he has many wonderful plans for his culinary department
here at Sumner on Ridgewood.

Terrace Room
This is truly
dining at its best. Overlooking one of
Sumner on Ridgewood's many
patios, the water fountain sets the mood for luxury dining in our
beautiful surroundings. We provide consistently innovative meals
prepared by accomplished chefs from the Akron area's finest restaurants
and clubs. Our Sunday Brunch
includes more traditional items such as made-to-order omelets and the
finest dinner items made. Monday through Thursday is a more relaxed
atmosphere, with the weekends a bit more formal.
The Terrace Room
serves Monday through Saturday from 4:30 until 7 pm, with our brunch on
Sundays from 11 am until 2:30 pm.

Deli at
Ridgewood
Want a more casual atmosphere and cuisine? You'll find
it here! We offer great choices for eating traditional delicatessen food right
in the Deli, or dine al fresco on our adjoining patio. We have a selection of
the finest meats and cheeses, connoisseur hotdogs straight from Chicago,
innovative salads and soups, succulent sandwiches and luscious desserts that
make a New York style deli seem achingly close. And if you're planning a picnic,
party or just good snacking, take home some of these appetizing items, or choose
a whole rotisserie chicken to feed your family and friends.

PubSuppose you want to have a card game, small private party, or just want to
entertain a few friends? Then the intimacy of our Pub is just the place. With a
call (in advance) to our restaurant, we can cater your wishes for a special
time.

Health
Center DiningOur four
Health Center buildings are designed with home in mind and offer the same
wonderful food to our Health Center residents. The dining rooms are light, airy and
comfortable. And just like home, the cooking and serving area is adjacent to the
dining room. Dining in this homey atmosphere is designed to meet not only each
resident's needs but also individual choices.
